ASHMEAD EMERALD
Emerald gained her place in the Lifetime Ridden Performance Awards by gaining:-
Category 1 – two wins in Ridden classes and two wins in Pairs Ridden.
Category 2 – N/A
Category 3 – six wins in RDA.
Emerald qualifies in two sections as she was born before 1985. Emerald’s dam Wrekin Elaine, was a daughter of Stormer who was imported by Ernie Holmes in 1969 and Eugenie imported in the early seventies. Her sire Strauss was also bred by Ernie being a son of Stormer and Danubia.
Emerald's Story
Em was loved by all who knew her and had major success at the Breed show paired with numerous riders.
In her youth she was a speed machine and it took a strong rider to hold on to her as she sped around long distance rides or when anyone took her jumping !!
Her pair wins were with her half brother, Silvretta Stowaway whilst they could look angelic in he show ring, they were a mischievous pair, often up to no good at home !!
A firm favourite with the riding school she taught hundreds of children and adults to ride both on the flat and over jumps
Without doubt though her legacy to hundreds of riders was through the RDA and her numerous wins at the Breed Show class goes some way to prove what an exceptional horse she was, especially with the less able on board. The RDA requested her many times for Regional training, Regional finals and she was always used by the local branch at their weekly sessions.
We sadly lost Em in 2003, but her legacy lives on in another Lifetime Ridden Performance award winner, her son Silvretta Napoleon.
