JUDITHA
Judi gained her place in the Lifetime Ridden Performance Awards by gaining:-
Category 1 – N/A
Category 2 –a win in show jumping.
Category 3 – a win in RDA and two wins in Handy Pony.
Judi qualifies in two sections as she was born before 1985. Juditha was imported with her half brother Max and sister Maida from upper Austria.
Juditha's Story
Judi came to England as a weanling in 1978 imported from Austria with her full sister and half brother by Mr and Mrs Proctor. I met Judi and her siblings in September 1979 when it was suggested to the Proctors that it was time the young Haflingers started their education!
I got the job! These young horses were very fat, having been fed on oats by the old boys who worked on the farm; one of the horses had been backed, the older sister who was by now two and a half. So I duly went to saddle up this horse. Now, whether by design or on purpose, Judi (18 months) was pointed out, being taller, as being the older one. So I tacked her up and off I went up the farm track. We walked, we then trotted – then I patted her! It was then I realised I had the wrong horse! She had never been backed let alone tacked up. We came quietly home.
This has been Judi’s way all her life, absolutely un-phased. Strong and forward, but always trustworthy. She loved jumping cross-country – she has never stopped or gone around a jump – always pricking up her ears and over. So trusting. We did many cross country and one day event courses, as well as Novice Jumping classes, Horse and Hound competitions – all the really fun things to do. Judi has excelled at RDA and Handy Pony competitions, even taking part in a fun Point-to-Point, and frequent drag hunt meets which she loved.
We participated for a good 15 years at our local RDA group, only having breaks from these activities when she foaled her 4 foals. I think she has been placed nearly every event she has ever entered.
Throughout, Judi has been one of the mainstays of my small riding establishment here in Sussex, and remains a firm favourite with our customers, now aged 31. A real performer.
